The Lions in intense preparations

Al Rayyan coach Michael Laudrup is putting his wards through intense paces ahead of their QNB Stars League Week 12 home game against Al Khor on Saturday.

Sultan Al Kuwari, who suffered a torn muscle during their Week 9 game against Al Gharafa and was missing in action, returned to the team training. Al Rayyan are playing their home games at the Al Sadd Stadium.

Al Rayyan are third in the standings with 25 points, two adrift of Al Sadd and four behind Al Duhail.

The Lions had dropped points in the last two rounds after being held 1-1 by Umm Salal in Week 10 before they lost 0-2 to Al Ahli. And they had lost to Al Gharafa in the QSL Cup final.

Al Rayyan had lost the only friendly they played during the month-long break between the first and second phase, 0-1 to Al Markhiya.

Laudrup would be keen to put their QNB Stars League campaign back on track as they embark on the crucial second half of the season, where they also have the AFC Champions League engagements.
