'Good opportunity to field youngsters'
Al Rayyan coach Michael Laudrup spoke ahead of their QNB Stars League Week 20 match against Al Arabi.
“We had very limited time to prepare for this match (derby against Al Arabi) as we reached back in Doha only on Wednesday evening after our game against Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh in the third round of the AFC Champions League.
“So this will be a good opportunity to field young players as the seniors will be spared of exhaustion. Moreover, that will give them more confidence and also playing time to improve their abilities.
“We enter each and every game with the aim of winning. So fielding young players doesn’t mean that we are not going for victory. Some players will not be ready for this game, so we decided to rest them.
“We have also some missing players such as Daniel Goumou and Sebastian Soria due to suspension (fourth yellow card). Therefore we will be seeking suitable players to cover their positions,” said Laudrup.
