Club Licensing Workshop throws light on key aspects


The annual Club Licensing Workshop, conducted by the Qatar Stars League Management (QSLM) at the W Hotel, shed light on key aspects of the topic and drew overwhelming response, with members and representatives of 17 QNB Stars League as well as Second Division clubs attending.

QSLM’s Director of Business Planning and Club Licensing David McVeigh, who welcomed the gathering, spoke about the applicability of the licence. The topics discussed were key changes to club licensing regulations as well as club licensing system, invitation process to apply for club licensing, core process timeline, deadlines, appeal process and assistance visit to clubs.

QSLM’s Business Planning Specialist Amelia Gan Lee presented the financial criteria requirements in club licensing process, such as audited financial statements and audit opinion, due amounts to employees and clubs, and other financial requirements for club licensing and AFC Licence.


Ryan Villagracia, representing Moore Stephens firm, spoke about annual financial statements. He defined the audited financial statements and spoke about its importance, mentioned the impact of audited opinion on club licence, interim audit and its purpose, summarised their comments for last year’s audited financial statements (the challenges) and addressed the areas for improvement.

Qatar Football Association’s Age Category Technical Supervisor Dr Mouwafq Majed Al Mola and Aspetar’s Sports Medicine Specialist Dr Emin Ergen gave their views on club licensing.
