Battle lines drawn for Ooredoo Cup Round 4
Battle lines have been drawn for the 2018-19 Ooredoo Cup Round 4 action, to be held on Thursday, 28th November (three matches in Group B), and Sunday, 1st December (three matches in Group A).
The fixtures are Al Gharafa vs Al Arabi (16:00) at Al Khor Stadium, Al Duhail vs Qatar SC (18:10) at Al Wakrah Stadium and Al Khor vs Al Sailiya (18:10) at Al Shamal Stadium on Thursday (Group B), Al Wakrah vs Al Rayyan (16:00) at Al Khor Stadium, Al Sadd vs Umm Salal (18:10) at Al Shamal Stadium and Al Shahania vs Al Ahli (18:10) at Al Wakrah Stadium on Sunday (Group A).
Al Rayyan and Al Khor are leading Group A and B respectively with seven points each.
Al Rayyan are followed by Al Ahli (six points), Al Wakrah (five), Al Sadd (three), Umm Salal (two) and Al Shahania (one point) in Group A.
Al Khor and Qatar SC both have seven points, but the former are placed higher on better goal difference (+9 as against Qatar SC’s +7).
Qatar SC are followed by Al Arabi (five), Al Duhail (two) Al Gharafa (one) and Al Sailiya (one point).
In Round 3 Group A action on 23rd November, Al Shahania played out a goalless draw with Al Wakrah, Al Ahli beat Al Sadd 4-3 and Umm Salal held Al Rayyan to a 2-2 draw.
In Round 3 Group B action on 22nd November, Al Khor defeated Al Gharafa 3-1, Al Sailiya played out a 2-2 draw with Al Duhail and Qatar SC drew 1-1 with Al Arabi.
The Ooredoo Cup, formerly QSL Cup, provides younger players with more playing time and exposure. The tournament, which has a group-cum-knockout format, offers new opportunities for sponsors, partners and supporters to highlight their brands.
The top four sides from each group will progress to the knockout quarterfinals after five rounds of group games.
