Al Shamal and Al Sailiya match ends in stalemate

A bottom of the table clash between Shamal and Al Sailiya was played out at the Shamal stadium on Saturday 18th Oct’ at 19:45 in the evening.

From Sailiya’s five matches so far, they have just one win and lost four, confining them to just three points prior to their round 7 clash.

Al Shamal, were still looking for their first victory in this year’s Qatar Stars League, having lost four matches and drawn twice from their previous six battles.

And this game would be a tale of own goals that cost both sides dear.

The home team went in front after Ricardo Costa scored an own goal in the 5th minute, a dream start for Diliberto’s men who need every bit of good fortune that they can get.

And that’s how it stayed until the 72nd minute when Mohammed Salah levelled the scores for the Peregrines late in the second half.

But the drama had yet to finish as just 8 minutes later Dutch forward Saïd Boutahar put the Musketeers back in the lead.

Football can be a cruel game and just when it looked as if Shamal would record their first win, Al Shamal defender Marcone Amaral scored an own goal to give Al Sailiya a point and ruin the night for all the fans (77”).

The result means that Shamal remain rooted to the bottom of the table and Sailiya move up a place to 12th in the Qatar Stars League.
