Al Sailiya plans taking battle to the top sides
: Al Sailiya will be looking to challenge the top teams when the new QNB Stars League season kicks off next month.
A sixth-place finish last season would have been satisfying for most sides but coach Sami Trabelsi is preparing his side for tougher tasks when the regular football season starts in a few weeks.
Trabeli's fighting unit last season could not sustain the good start they had in the early part of the previous year but things could be different in the 2018-19 season.
Al Sailiya are one of the teams that rely on technical stability in order to achieve their goals and nobody would know this better than Trabelsi who has been with the side for the last few years.
Trabelsi knows the challenges that lie in front of him as he works on his starting line-up for the new season. His knowledge of his opponents' strengths and weaknesses will come in handy when Al Sailiya take to the pitch for QNB Stars League clashes.
Trabelsi have assembled a strike force that could lift Al Sailiya in the new season. Experienced Moroccan Rachid Tiberkanine will join Syrian international Fahad Al Youssef and Algerian veteran Nadir Belhadj.
These players have been retained from previous season and Al Sailiya coach Trabelsi will be hoping the see better performances from the trio.
Al Sailiya has supported its team with a number of national players, the most recent being goalkeeper Saud Al Khater.
These reinforcements will contribute to the team's cause in the new football season in order to break through the grip of the top teams like Al Duhail, Al Sadd, Al Rayyan and Al Gharafa.
Al Sailiya - currently training in the Tunisian city of Tabarka - are scheduled to play a number of friendly matches before returning to Doha.
Al Sailiya will start its new season with a clash against Umm Salal on August 4. The match will be of great importance to the players and the players because it will give an indication of what the team can achieve in the new season.
Coach Trabelsi will be looking forward to a strong start in the new season, knowing very well a win in the first match could set the tone for better things in the weeks and months ahead.
