Al Sadd extend Morteza deal till the end of season

Al Sadd renewed the contract of Iranian defender Morteza Pouraliganji till the end of this season.

Al Sadd General Manager Turki Nasser Al Ali signed the extension deal with Morteza, who joined The Wolves in January, 2016, from Chinese club Tianjin TEDA.

Morteza has had a productive time with Al Sadd, winning three titles — the Emir’s Cup as well as Qatar Cup last season and Sheikh Jassim Cup this time.

The tall player is one of the mainstays in Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira’s scheme of things. He has much experience and scores goals occasionally.

Morteza expressed his delight over the renewal of his contract.

“I thank the club management for its confidence in me that resulted in my contract extension. I’m having a good time with Al Sadd and I’ll strive harder to help the team face challenges in all competitions,” the 25-year-old said.

Al Sadd are second in the QNB Stars League on 27 points, two behind Al Duhail and as many ahead of Al Rayyan. The tournament’s second phase will begin in early January after a month-long break.
