Al Rayyan midfielder Abdulrahman Al Korbi in an Exclusive Interview with QSL Online
Abdulrahman Al Korbi is a reliable and efficient player in the Al Rayyan midfield. He has been putting up consistent performances ever since the start of this season’s QNB Stars League.
In an exclusive interview with QSL Online ahead of their much-anticipated Week 5 game against Al Arabi on Friday, 14th September, Al Korbi gave his takes on many topics. Excerpts:
How do you see the game against Al Arabi?
It’s an important game and we need to collect three points to stay on course. We respect Al Arabi. After their big loss to Al Sadd in Week 2, they came back strongly, scored two consecutive wins and have high motivation.
What’re Al Rayyan’s chances of winning this match?
We’ve big confidence in our abilities and quality. We’ve the motivation and we can win. Our goal is to collect full points from every match.
Al Arabi are in a better position than you in the table? Does it make you more hungry to win?
We’re at the beginning of the league and the difference between the first and fifth positions is only two points. Our target is to keep winning and be in the lead.
What’re your expectations of this match?
No team has an advantage over the other. It’ll be a difficult match and won’t be lopsided. We’ll implement our coach (Luka) Bonacic’s instructions on the field.
What can you promise your fans?
We promise our fans to put in our best efforts in order to get three points.
Your message to Al Rayyan fans?
Their presence motivates us to achieve greater things.
Can Al Rayyan dominate Al Arabi as has been the case in the last few seasons?
Each game is different from the other. Previous results aren’t an indicator of new ones. We can only see the difference on the field.
Which player/players do you respect the most in Al Arabi?
Al Arabi play as one group. They’ve many good players like Mohammed Salah and Ahmed Fathi.
Why do you think Al Rayyan show inconsistency in terms of results?
The results are good. We won against Al Ahli and Al Kharaitiyat, and held defending champions Al Duhail to a goalless draw. The draw with Umm Salal was our only negative result. We haven’t yet shown our full potential on the pitch. We’ve more to offer.
How do you see the competition in this season’s league?
In my opinion, the competition will be the same as in the last season. Al Duhail, Al Rayyan and Al Sadd will compete for the title and Al Gharafa will complete the top-four line-up.
Do you feel Al Rayyan are strong contenders for this season’s QNB Stars League title?
We’ll certainly fight for the title. We enter every competition with the desire to win it and we’ve confidence in our potential.
What’s your ambition with Al Rayyan?
My target is to win titles, continue playing and improve our performance after every match.
