Al Ahli lose to Bayern in friendly

QNB Stars League side Al Ahli lost 0-6 to German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in a friendly played at the Aspire ground on Saturday.

This was the eighth year in a row that the Bavarian giants had their annual winter training camp in Doha. This time, it was for five days.

Sandro Wagner opened the floodgates in the 38th minute before Corentin Tolisso, Arjen Robben, Kingsley Coman, Niklas Dorsch and Niklas Sule scored in the second half.

Robert Lewandowski and Mats Hummels (both injuries) and Joshua Kimmich (ill) did not play for Jupp Heynckes-coached Bayern.

The match was part of Al Ahli’s preparations for the second phase of QNB Stars League.

The Brigadiers, under new coach George Jorge, are up against Al Gharafa in Week 12 on 12th January. They are sixth in the standings on 14 points.

Al Ahli once had former Bayern coach Pep Guardiola, who now manages Premier League side Manchester City, as a player between 2003 and 2005.
