10 QNB Stars League players on national duty


Ten QNB Stars League professionals from different clubs joined their respective national teams as part of preparations for the forthcoming official matches and international friendlies. They all are key players, be it with their clubs or national sides.

The QSL Online highlights these stars, who will soon play vital roles for their national teams.

The FIFA 2018 Russia World Cup's African qualifiers will feature Al Duhail captain Youssef Msakny of Tunisia and Markhiya's Burkinabe player Alain Traore.

Tunisia will play Guinea in Group A, while Burkina Faso face South Africa in Group D, both on October 7.

The South American qualifiers will see Al Gharafa's Robert Jose donning the Venezuela colours against Uruguay and Paraguay on October 6 and October 10 respectively.

In the double-leg Asian play-off, Mahmoud Al Mowas (Umm Salal) and Mardik Mardikian (Al Arabi) will be seen in action when Syria clash with Australia at home on October 5. The return game in Australia is on October 10.

The fifth and sixth rounds of European Zone World Cup qualification will also have the presence of two players from the QNB Stars League.


Al Gharafa’s Vladimir Weiss is all set to line up for Slovakia against Scotland on October 5 as well as Malta on October 8 in Group F. Also, Al Sailiyah defender Dragos Gregor will lead Romania against Kazakhstan on October 5 and Denmark on October 8 in Group E.

Meanwhile, the QNB Stars League players who will do duty for their countries in international friendlies are Al Duhail’s Nam Tae-Hee (South Korea), Al Markhiya’s Rabin Solaqa (Iraq) and Al Sadd’s Murtaza Mohamed (Iran).

South Korea will vie with Russia and Morocco on October 7 and 10 respectively, while Iraq face Kenya on October 5. Iran’s matches are against Togo and Russia on October 5 and 10, in that order.
