Al Wakrah coach Ali Rahma Al Marri and player Ahmed Fadhel spoke to the media ahead of their Qatar Cup 2024 semifinal against Al Sadd.

“The presence of the first four teams of Expo Stars League in one tournament gives more competition and all teams present excellent levels, and this indicates that all matches will be difficult. I hope that we will provide the best level and performance. Al Wakrah have had goals since last season and we are on the right path to achieving these goals. The Qatar Cup match has a special style and thought. We are in dire need of winning a title in order to crown our efforts over the past two seasons.

“It will be an equal match, and the one who is more focused and willing will have a greater chance of winning and reaching the final. We need focus and great work in order to achieve that. Developing a single scenario for the match will be difficult during the confrontation, which will be strong, as happened in our matches in the league championship, and we will go into the match with all focus to achieve our purpose and goal, which is to qualify for the final. Facing Al Sadd in the Qatar Cup is different, and caution will be on the part of both teams, and we will strive to appear in a distinctive and better way.

“The club management provides all support to me and the players, and we played the last two matches in the league while resting many players in order to prepare for the Qatar Cup.

“Our fans are always supportive of us and I hope that they will attend the match in large numbers, and we promise them to provide the best during the match to achieve victory and qualify for the final,” said Al Marri.

Ahmed Fadhel said, “Facing Al Sadd will be strong, especially since the cup matches are very different. Al Wakrah are capable of reaching the final match and we are preparing strongly for the match. We faced Al Sadd twice in the league championship and both matches ended in draws, and our goal is to achieve the first victory over them this season. The team is developing from one match to another and our goal is to win a championship that will please our fans, and we are on the right path to achieve that.

“Indeed, changing the coach has a positive impact on the team. Coach Ali Rahma Al Marri is very close to the players and has played a major role with us in the past period.”
